Translating for the Health Care Industry

by | Jan 13, 2011 | Translation Services

Translators specializing in the health care industry understand and master medical language which is essential to providing quality care to foreign language speakers internationally. Patients traveling from one country to another or seeking quality care elsewhere will rely on the translations of hospital records, emergency room communications, doctors’ offices files, x-ray analysis translations and more. Public Health organizations, nurses’ stations, and hospitals use translators to make patient check-in simpler and obtaining accurate medical history. Research labs and institutes also use translators to translate clinical trials, research, articles, patents, licensing and more. Technical language for medical equipment, catalogs, business reports, research, minutes, agreements, financial statements, contracts, policies, claims, litigations and more are all utilized and needed in the medical field by banks, insurance companies, laboratories, medical administrators, and much more. Medical translators are a key asset to this very particular field.

We assist pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, physicians, NGOs, and non-profit organizations in their efforts to inform and care for their non-English-speaking patients. Our translators and interpreters carry a great responsibility because in some cases, when it comes to the proper use of medication and the knowledge of side effects and contraindications, the accuracy of translation can become a life-and-death issue.

THE PEPFAR INITIATIVE AGAINST HIV/AIDS

In July of 2008, Congress signed into law the H.R. 5501 – the Tom Lantos and Henry J. Hyde United States Global Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Act. This act was a continuation of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS relief (PEPFAR), launched in 2003. PEPFAR was the largest commitment signed onto by any nation in the globe for the treatment, prevention, and care of millions nationally and globally.

Funding millions of dollars in research, prevention support, awareness, education and treatment, the Act works in partnership with host nations and their institutions, and helps covers the training of at least 140,000 health care workers in HIV/AIDS prevention. Numerous organizations in the United States, in accordance with the Act, as well as with the global HIV/AIDS outreach, provide health care consulting, medical and social research, supporting and working with NGOs, publications, public donations, public and private health care funding, and general international support in the field, to work towards a generation free of HIV/AIDS. These organizations work nationally and globally to prevent the spread of this disease, raise social awareness, and help define health care plans and disease treatment of patients in Third-World countries.
