Dimitra Hengen earned her Masters in English-French-Italian translation at the School of International Interpreters, Mons University, in Belgium. She has extensive experience in the techniques of interpretation and translation, starting from a training and research program following her degree, at the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. She is licensed as a court-certified translator and interpreter. Since her degree and certification in Europe, she has established herself as a leader in the field, having translated several John Gardner’s James Bond books into French, among others. Her diversity explains her strength in the realm of translation and interpretation, with an additional degree in Journalism from the Institut Universalis in Liege, Belgium. She is also certified from U.S. NATO in General Management. Before founding Alpha Omega Translations, Dimitra worked for various private and governmental institutions internationally as a translator or interpreter: the US Army at NATO in Brussels, Belgium, the U.S. Agency for International Development in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (where she held the position of Director of the French Language Department), the African Development Bank in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, EuroDisney in Paris, France are only a small number of her previous employers, all commending her for her professionalism and talent.
Then, with her education and experience in perfect alignment, she brought it all together at Alpha Omega Translations —and hasn’t looked back since!
Today Dimitra Hengen continues to provide daily input and guidance to the talented stable of translators and writers at Alpha Omega Translations.
